Daynote Details
- Clicking a date opens a note
window for that specific date. Dates with notes are colorized.
Daynotes marked as Keepers, created via the holidays function or
from the event window, can be identified with a different
color. Use Control-click on the calendar to pick colors for
these varieties of daynotes. DayNotes are automatically saved when
their window is closed or upon quitting.
- Clicking a date opens an existing note or creates a new one.
- No limit on a daynote's size or how many are created.
- To delete notes do a Select All
(CMD-A), backspace delete the text and close the daynote
window. If it worked, the color of the date should disappear. Use
the preference setting to delete daynotes older than "xx" days.
Deletion of daynotes based on this preference is done
automatically when CCN X starts. Weekly view & List view also
have a convenient way to delete daytnotes. The keeper checkbox
overrides the preference option controlling automatic deletion and
always keeps the daynote regardless of age. Note: daynotes are
AUTOMATICALLY kept for the time period specified in
the preferences dialog without checking the KEEP box.
- Multiple daynotes may be open
simultaneously, but you can't open the same date in two windows.
- Edit Copy/Paste/Cut fonts
and colors are supported in this window. Each note may only have one
font size and one color
- PRINT in the FILE menu will
print the daynote that is open and active (front window).
- EXPORT DAYNOTES TO TEXT FILE
option on the daynote menu sends a copy of all your daynotes to a text
file . Some customers wanted to be able to archive notes, and then
delete them within CCN X in order to keep their number of
daynotes to a minimum
- EXPORT DAYNOTES TO iCal Format
option on the daynote menu creates an iCalendar format file that may be
imported into iCal or Outlook on Window. The export and subsequent
import was tested successfully with Outlook 2003 on Windows and iCal
2.03 under OS X 10.4.6
- US holidays/events, when
inserted, do not overwrite an existing daynote for a date. Also,
a warning is given if holiday daynotes have already been added for
the year chosen. Holidays are: New Year's Day, President's Day,
Easter, Start and End of DayLight Saving Time, Memorial Day,
Mother's Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas
- Search within daynotes. Need to
find all daynotes referring to Aunt Joan? This will find them.
- Daynotes can be spell checked
using the button on the bottom of the daynote window. Please note: this
uses the Apple Spell Check Engine. If the results look incorrect, start
a new document within Apple's Mail program (or TextEdit) and type the
word in and the result should be the same. The spell checker assumes
some words are just acronyms while others (such as "ddd") are
mysteriously not flagged as misspelled.
- Control clicking the text on a
daynote window brings up a contextual menu to select the color of the
text in the daynote. Daynote text is all the same color. The color
selected for the daynote text is controlled separately from the date
color on the calendar window.
